Tanja Johnston
My name is Tanja Johnston and I’d like to share a yarn with your about myself and my experiences as an Education Consultant. As a child I immigrated to Australia and quickly became drawn to the symbolic representative nature of Indigenous artwork. I have been fortunate to have known Annette Sax since primary school. Through this connection, travel throughout our country and ongoing studies I have brought a broad non-Indigenous perspective of Indigenous education studies to YSS.
I am a visual artist with a BA in Fine Art with studies in Aboriginal art and culture. I am also a Secondary Educator, training and working within an Indigenous and non-Indigenous framework. My educational experience encompassed work with Indigenous children teaching contemporary and traditional culture.
In recent years I have completed a Masters in Art Therapy and am a mother of two children. I have worked in partnership with the creative and innovative Women of YSS since its inception and currently work on and in the development and promotion of Yarn Strong Sista. |
