Bottlebrush Mat

Description

The Bottlebrush Mat is designed by Victorian Aboriginal artist Annette Sax, Creative Director of Yarn Strong Sista.
Annette developed the Bush Tucker Mat Series to compliment our Yarn Strong Sista Books; Bartja and Mayila, Yurri’s Manung and Yurri’s Birthday, written by Yorta Yorta author Dr. Sue Atkinson.
This mat is inspired by Annette’s connection to Country and the importance of bush tucker for our Ancestors and in our culture today.
Children may be inspired to create stories about the forest and the creatures within.

Add ‘YSS Bush Bingo Game (YSSBB) and natural/recycled materials to extend on literacy and numeracy experiences. In addition, add the ‘Mother and Baby Crab Set (MBC10)’ to create a small play experience.
