Ochre Mountain Mat

Description

The Felt Ochre Mountain Mat is designed by Victorian Aboriginal artist Annette Sax, Creative Director of Yarn Strong Sista.
Annette developed the ‘Felt Ochre Mountain Mat’ based on her experience of taking her children to Ochre Mountain on Wurrundjeri Country.

This mat is beautifully embroidered felt piece with symbols including gum trees, Ochre Mountain, the Moonee Ponds Creek, reeds and grasses.

Annette collected the natural materials along this creek which are used as collage illustrations within ‘Bartja and Mayila’ (BAM100). Educators can add the ‘Woolen Rope Family Set’ (WRF100) and sticks and rocks for oral storytelling.

Felted in Nepal through Fair Trade.
