Gum Leaves Mat

Description

The Gum Leaves Mat is designed by Victorian Aboriginal artist Annette Sax, Creative Director of Yarn Strong Sista.
Annette developed the Bush Tucker Mat Series to compliment our Yarn Strong Sista Books; Bartja and Mayila, Yurri’s Manung and Yurri’s Birthday, written by Yorta Yorta author Dr. Sue Atkinson.
This mat is inspired by Annette’s connection to Country and the importance of eucalyptus leaves for our Ancestors.
Children may be inspired to create stories about the forest and the creatures within.
Add the ‘Mother and Baby Felt Lizard Set (LM200)’ and ‘Animals in my Garden (MB2010)’ Counting Board Book to extend on literacy and numeracy experiences. In addition, add ‘Yurri’s Manung Felt Set 1 (YSMF1)’ as pictured to create a small play experience.
