Birrin, Handmade Cotton Doll with Heart T-Shirt

These handcrafted dolls are designed by a young First Nation artist, whose name means ‘Waterfall’ in her Torres Strait language. She created self-portraits that have been transformed into these beautiful cotton dolls, celebrating the diversity of our community.

The colours used for the clothes represent her Torres Strait Islander Identity, as blue and green are the colours of the Torres Strait flag. Doll and clothes are made of cotton, hair is made of wool, and faces are hand-painted through Fair Trade by Artisans in Nepal.
